  Bonneville Speedweek 2008 Recently returned from their second trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats, Ulysses King Country members Alan and Violet Thoresen are shown here on the Bonnville Salt Flats with Alan's Kawasaki ZX-14 "Black Thunder" and the rest of the Black Thunder Racing Team.  There were over 500 Entries at Speed week this year, and only 14 Entries Managed more than 15 runs. "The winner of the most runs was Alan with 26 Runs". It was out of determination and frustration trying to go faster, that led to the fast turn arounds. Alan ran the ZX-14 stock this year and removed all the "Go Fast Goddies" and managed a speed of 182mph with the back wheel still wheel spinning at 210mph!!! Another King Country Member Andy Goodridge also joined Alan and Violets Black Thunder racing Team, along with Neil Powell as Crew Cheif from Big Bikes in Hamilton, and Richard Ramsay (a fellow Drag Racer) from Auckland. Alan and Violet have advised they will be Back in Bonneville for Speed week 2009 on the salt flats. If anyone wants to head to Bonneville, in August 2009, it is a trip and an experience of a lifetime and is not to be missed... Talk to Alan and Violet.   |
